A Birthday Cubby House with Slide - Delivered Rain, Hail & Shine

Posted by Kellie Macpherson on

Welcome to the world of Castle & Cubby, where birthday surprises come to life in the most incredible and magical ways! For the past 10 years, we've been dedicated to creating dreamy surprises that go above and beyond for our clients. And let's be real, we all know that most families leave organizing birthday and Christmas presents till the last minute. But fear not, we're here to save the day!

Take our recent project for Julia in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, for example. Julia had a vision of a special cubby house with slide for her family, just like the one we had built for another family years ago. With our team's hard work and dedication, we made Julia's dream a reality, ensuring that every detail was meticulously handcrafted.

Despite the tight deadline and challenging weather conditions, we pulled out all the stops to make sure everything was ready in time for the big birthday celebration. And the result? Julia and her family were absolutely thrilled with our work and dedication. Their imaginative 4-year-old daughter Mia was over the moon with the surprise, and the custom cubby house has become a central part of family gatherings and playdates, providing endless hours of fun and imaginative play for Mia and her friends.

From a cozy hideaway to a charming family cafe, the possibilities are endless in their new play space. The feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're delighted to bring joy and create lasting memories for families. Knowing that our hard work has contributed to endless hours of fun and imaginative play is the best reward we could ask for.

We hope Julia and her family continue to enjoy their beautiful cubby house for years to come, and we can't wait to bring more birthday dreams to life for our future clients. So, if you're looking to create a magical surprise that will leave your family in awe, Castle & Cubby is here to make it happen!

What made you decide to get a cubby house for your family?
Tell us about your child and why you thought they'd be a good cubby kid.

Our daughter Mia is 4 years old. She’s has a brilliant imagination for anything role play. As a family in the modern world, it’s hard to get kids to enjoy the simple things that were so fundamental In our own childhoods. Our home is open to kindy friends and young family alike that get endless hours of fun in our cubby.

Did you get the kids involved in the process of deciding and designing or was it a secret?

This was a secret actually! A very special 3rd birthday present. My husband and I were involved in the design and colour scheme. The look on her face was priceless when she laid eyes on it for the first time.

What attracted you to Castle & Cubby and the particular design you chose?

We loved the zimi as soon as we saw it. The simple yet functional design allowed the space to be anything my daughter imagined it could be. Sometimes it’s a house - other times it’s cafe. The possibilities are endless. We loved that we were able to customise it to add a slide for extra fun!

How did you find the experience of Castle and Cubby installing for you?

The install was brilliant. Took 4 men all day (in the rain too) they never stopped until the job was done. They built a custom deck as well as the cubby with an additional platform for a slide.

How did the kids react to the unveiling of the finished product?

Absolutely priceless. Shock and awe. The next morning the first thing she did was run down stairs to make sure it was still there.

What have your visitors been saying about the new play space?

Many many questions about where it was from - how unique it is also. Not only is it study well built and lasted so well over Melbournes tumultuous weather. It’s absolutely stunning to look at.

How are the kids using the space? Have you been surprised with any of the play styles/games they have engaged with?

The space is mostly used as a cafe service area. It was built to resemble the style of one of our local cafes in the area. Our daughter and her cousins/friends see this and like to replicate it like it’s their own family cafe.
